In the Wall Street Journal
blog section Jacob Goldstein wrote
about how the FDA wants to ban Caffeine infused alcoholic drinks. If I want
to take my Upper and Downer at the same time why not? The FDA states that
caffeine is a food additive and not approved for use in an alcohol beverage.
This is the reason behind the potential ban on the drinks. Goldstein states,
this FDA action follows actions by several State's Attorney General to
investigate these drinks. "Young People" apparently partake in risky
behavior while under the influence of these drinks. Well isn't that the point
to drink these get drunk and yet hyper? I remember a great summer music
festival when I consumed several Sparks (which did contain caffeine but no
longer) and had a wonderful time. The drink tasted like rancid sweet cough
medicine but hey, it was still fun. Then last year at the same music festival I
drank non-caffeinated Sparks and well it's not nearly as good. I missed they
whole weird drunk/caffeine jittery feeling that made Sparks a great AMERICAN
drink. Why should I be forced to mix my own vices together instead of getting
it in a nice prepackaged form? What's next no Kahlua with my coffee? It is a
sad day when we can't consume our legal drugs premixed form.
