I want a 2.5% interest rate on my mortgage. Ohh wait I'm not a fucking idiot so I don't qualify. In the recently negotiated settlement with 11 states, Bank of America (Countrywide's New Owner) will be renegotiating mortgages and giving out some cash payments. Read some of the Articles from the Chicago Tribune and AP. I'm fine with helping out people who actually deserve help. That is, people who were genuinely taken advantage of. I'm not into people getting help that took on mortgages they knew they couldn't afford just because they could. They should lose those homes. I'm also pissed off that because of pure stupidity or criminal behavior people will end up with lower interest rates and possibly lower principal amounts than an honest Joe Taxpayer could ever hope to get. I could use a few hundred extra bucks a month that a 2.5% rate would give me. Countrywide, give me a better rate too because I actually paid my mortgage on time every month.
